Hot on the heels of sell out concerts in Cardiff in 2015 and 2016, as well as a successful series of concerts in the French Caribbean in 2016, special guests Adrien Chevalier (violin) and Tatiana Eva Marie (Vocals) will be returning alongside Cardiff based Electro-Acoustic Jazz Harpist Ben Creighton Griffiths for another wonderful night in Acapela. They are delighted to be joined by Ashley John Long (bass). Join us for some fantastic Traditional Jazz, Gypsy Jazz, and Swing once again!
Adrien Chevalier is
a violinist and composer from Avignon, in the South of France,
classically trained at the Avignon Conservatory. After discovering
a passion for jazz and Gypsy music, he went on to study with jazz violin
Lockwood in Paris. His style is reminiscent of Stéphane
Grappelli but also greatly influenced by klezmer, tango and Balkanic
Currently based in New York City,
Adrien Chevalier is the founder
and band leader of the Hot
Club of New York and the Avalon
Jazz Band, who have performed extensively in New York City and
around the United States. He has performed with noteworthy musicians,
such as Stéphane
Wrembel, Adrien Moignard, Michael
Adrien Chevalier can
be heard several times a week in many great venues around New York
City, such as Matisse, Fada, The Lambs Club, Radegast Hall, Apotheke,
Beaumarchais, Domaine, the Manderley bar, the Standart Hotel…
Tatiana Eva-Marie is
a singer and actress living in New York City. She is the lead singer
of the Gypsy-French Avalon
Jazz Band and is currently developing a project inspired by
her Romanian and Yiddish musical roots. She has shared the stage with
renowned performers such as Nellie McKay, Marilyn Maye and Norah Jones.

Night, The Carlyle, “Tatiana’s
Swing Caravan” and “Do You Zazou?” at Joe’s
Pub, the New York Hot Jazz Festival, The
Salon at the Empire Rooftop, the New York Botanical Garden,
concerts for the French Ambassador in Washington DC on Bastille
Day, the New York City Opera gala at the Plaza,
private concerts for the Prince of Saudi Arabia, opening night of George
Clooney’s “Monuments Men”.
Tatiana Eva-Marie frequently guest stars
Webster & Friends. Past shows include the Frankie
Manning Tribute festival in Toronto, the London
Lindy Exchange, the Catalina Swing Dance Festival and
the Canadian Swing Championships.
When in New York, she performs regularly
in clubs, speakeasies and restaurants around the city, such as The
Lambs Club, Apotheke, The National Arts Club, Le Cirque, The
Soho Grand Hotel, The

|Ashley John Long
Ashley-John Long is a virtuoso bassist and composer active in a diverse range of musical idioms including Jazz and Improvisation, Session Music, Early and Contemporary Chamber Music, and as a Soloist. He graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama with 1st Class Honors where he studied double bass with Dominic Seldis, Dudley Phillips, Nick Weldon and Paula Gardiner, and composition with Tim Raymond and Peter Reynolds.
Since graduation he has maintained a busy and varied freelance career which has taken in many strands.
He has performed and recorded with some of the UK's leading Jazz musicians including Art Themen, Simon Spillett, Brandon Allen, Craig Millverton, Alan Barnes, Dave Newton, Geoff Eales, Damon Brown, Bobby Wellins, Osian Roberts, Steve Melling, as well as visiting artists including Scott Hamilton, Erin Dickens, Greg Abate and Daryl Sherman.
Ash has performed internationally as a soloist and has given premiers of numerous new works for solo bass, and toured in 2008 with French double bassist Louis-Michel Marion with a series of recitals featuring music by Xenakis, Bussotti, Scelsi and Barry Guy. Over 20 composers have written new works for him and has had performances broadcast on television and radio throughout the U.K and Europe..
A virtuoso improviser, Ash has developed a unique approach to the instrument creating innovative new performance techniques including methods of preparing the bass whilst performing and recording with some of the music's leading players, including Keith Tippett, Paul Dunmall, Phillip Gibbs, Eugene Chadbourne, Rhodri Davies, Mark Wastell, Patrick Farmer, Paul Dunmall, Dominic Lash, Alex Ward, Bruce Coates, Paul Hession and Christian Munthe.
He was awarded a PhD scholarship by Cardiff University in 2015 where he is undertaking research into contemporary performance practice.
Ashley is a D'Addario Performing Artist and uses Zyex and Helicore bass strings.
